Things with me are great, I’m using the skills you taught me and living much more stress less then this time last year.

I have lost 30 lbs, and feeling good mentality and physically. Don’t get me wrong there are days that I am off centered and need to really focus to reel myself back, but I refer back to my notebook and use the techniques to quite myself.

It can be a lonely journey,as most folks just ” don’t get it”. But it works great for me and the kids are really following my lead.

This is a the time of year, I use to find myself getting lost in the true meaning of The holidays , with attending functions I really didn’t want to , getting caught up in the madness, and over spending because of guilt. But, I’m happy to say that this year, I haven’t done anything of that. In fact on thanksgiving, me and the kids spend the majority of the day in dc at a homeless shelter, and then joined my family later in the day. It was so great, I think we will continue it for many years to come.

Working with John Staples as our HeartMath Personal Mentor, I learned that you can choose how you feel. Even in the midst of great chaos, we can be calm and make great decisions. We worked on transforming our inner voice from instinctively using negativity to keeping us safe to being positive and supporting us. We focused on loving others and accepting them for exactly who they are. We learned to give ourselves grace and celebrate the positive things in our life. A special treat for me was to be have my husband participate with me in the training. John worked with/mentored me using the Institute of HeartMath Stress Management Program. John has a very soothing style. He understands how the brain works and how we react emotionally to various stimuli. The introduction to the program and the subsequent tools that were used to identify stress-causing events (energy-drainers) were easy to use, yet effective. They pinpointed the particular areas that I wanted to focus on, and prompted me to think about how I felt about each of those situations. As we progressed and started implementing the techniques, I saw a difference right away in how I reacted to stress. I was much more self-aware and cognizant of the triggers. The challenges contemporary life creates are many.
